Dr G Parameshwar to Congress leaders: Get me more members or else...

Virtually lost cool over the lackadaisical attitude of party office bearers
BENGALURU: Virtually losing cool over the lackadaisical attitude of party office bearers, MLAs, MPs and ministers, pradesh Congress committee president Dr G. Parameshwar warned that if they failed to get involved in the membership drive, he would report the matter to AICC. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a senior leader said Dr Parameshwar first pulled up the office bearers for not holding monthly meetings as advised by Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi a couple of months ago.
“Mr Gandhi's office had issued an internal circular that each office bearer who is also in-charge of districts should hold meetings of district executive office bearers in order to strengthen the party at the grass roots level. This has not been fulfilled. Therefore, office bearers must hold meetings at least once in two months," the leader added quoting Dr Parameshwar.
Apart from this, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president also took leaders to task for not involving themselves in increasing party membership.
“I have come to know that MLAs, MPs or most leaders are not working. If the same trend continues, I will have no choice left but to inform about your (leaders) failure to Mr Gandhi,” Dr Parameshawar reportedly directed. He instructed presidents of district Congress committees (DCCs) to hold regular meetings to strengthen the party ahead of crucial elections to zilla panchayats and taluk panchayats which are scheduled to be held in January.
“We are left with very little time, we need to pull ourselves up for this big challenge. We have to win majority of the seats in these elections,” the leader added.
