Kottayam: Satheesh Babu, 38, the alleged killer of Sister Amala of the Lisieux Carmelite convent in Pala, had also murdered Sister Jose Maria Eruppakadu, 81, of the Sacred Heart convent at Chettuthodu in the district in April.
He confessed to the murder during questioning by the police and a case has been registered against him, said Pala DySP B. Suneesh Babu.
Sr Jose Maria was found dead with injuries on her head on April 15 in her room in the convent. The convent authorities thought that she had injured herself by falling down and no case was registered with the police. But they had lodged a complaint about the missing of Rs 70,000 from the convent , but the case was not followed up seriously.
The body of the nun will be exhumed from the cathedral cemetery in Pala. The fracture on the skull could be identified and presented in the court as evidence, said police.
She had suffered head injuries similar to those sustained by Sister Amala. Satheesh Babu was taken to the Lisieux convent on Tuesday to collect evidence in the case.
