Telugu producer and director Veershankar is producing a 12-minute short film on Mahatma Gandhi titled An Encounter with Mahatma. “This is about religion and harmony based on My Religion, M.K. Gandhi,” says Veerashankar. Gautam Kashyam has acted as Gandhi and has also directed the film.
Hailing from Chennai, he has done his PhD on Indian Aesthetic Science and Blockbuster Films and has also provided scripts for a couple of films like Malini 22 and Kundanapu Bomma.
“We are releasing the film on YouTube and are also planning to send it to international film festivals,” says Veerashankar. The short film ends with Martin Luther King’s speech where he talks about Gandhi. “We shot the film with actors but we got the original video of Martin Luther King, which comes in the end,” he says.
