Process for creation of new districts in begins

The process for reorganisation of new districts, revenue divisions and revenue mandals has finally begun
Hyderabad: Telangana will soon have more new districts to be carved out of the existing 10 districts including capital Hyderabad.
The process for reorganisation of new districts, revenue divisions and revenue mandals has finally begun. The state government constituted a five-member committee of secretaries under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma to give recommendations in this regard on Monday.
The government however did not fix a time limit. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, during his election campaign promised to create 24 districts in the new Telangana state for administrative convenience and according to the aspirations of the people including his native Siddipet out of Medak district.
He also promised to create a new Vikarabad district for administrative convenience in Ranga Reddy district besides several other new districts including Kamareddy (Nizambad district), Jagitial (Karimnagar district) of the present 10 districts, including Hyderabad as capital city and district.
Mr Rao said country-wide, on an average, each district has 19 lakh population whereas the average population per district in TS stood at 35 lakh making it a fit case for carving out new districts.
B.R. Meena, principal secretary, revenue department, issued orders constituting the committee. The committee comprises of chief secretary as chairman and principal secretary, revenue, principal secretary, MAUD, principal secretary, panchayat raj and rural development as members and principal commissioner for land as convener.
In tune with carving out of new districts, the revenue and mandal divisions will also be reorganised.
