Cashew machine to be highlight of expo
CEPCI president T.K. Shahal Hassan Musaliar will deliver the presidential address
KOLLAM: The increasing labour shortage has forced the Cashew Export Prom-otion Council of India (CEPCI) to encourage automated processing machines.
It will showcase the latest in technology at the 4th edition of Kaju India, an international buyer-seller meet opening in Kochi on Tuesday.
Talks on global cashew scenario and technical sessions are also part of the three-day Kaju India 2015 at Hotel Le Meridien that coincides with its diamond jubilee celebrations.
“Around 50 stalls will showcase machines for shelling, peeling, and grading,” CEPCI secretary K. Sasi Varma said.
“Machines used in Vietnam, which leads the industry now, will be on display.”
The organisers consider mechanisation as the solution to the rising labour input costs and tough international competition.
Industries minister P.K. Kunhalikutty will inaugurate the meet, supported by the Union commerce department, while excise and ports minister K. Babu will be a guest of honour.
CEPCI president T.K. Shahal Hassan Musaliar will deliver the presidential address.
Around 500 Indian and 50 foreign delegates are expected to attend the meet that provides a single platform for the entire spectrum of kernel buyers, sellers, processors and providers of supporting ancillaries from India and abroad.
