‘Mr Bachchan was not as involved as I am’
Salman Khan has made his return as the Bigg Boss host for the sixth season in a row. Colors channel launched the ninth edition of the controversial reality show and now it remains to be seen what mode bhai will switch to — the peacemaker or the provocateur. This time too, the theme of the show is “double trouble”. When asked for his take on that, Khan said, “I wasn’t happy with the theme initially but the creative team made the concept so exciting that I agreed later on.”
Last year when he had quit the show mid-way and Farah Khan had stepped in, there was a lot of talk about whether or not he would continue as host in the next season. Khan finally revealed the real reason behind his missing act. “I get exhausted shooting for the show over three months. It has been a long association. But I started missing the entire team eventually.”
A lot of young fans have been talking on social networking websites about people watching the show only because Salman Khan hosts it. The superstar doesn’t agree. He said at the launch that he is friends with most contestants even outside the show and that makes all the difference. “I love guiding contestants. Mr Bachchan also hosted the show but he wasn’t involved in it, the way I am. I am friends with most of them outside the house. I love sharing my life with them.”
While the show seems right on track, Salman was asked about the double trouble in his own life. He did not hesitate to reply. “You guys have witnessed me playing so many roles in life and I allow people to be part of my life. I don’t think anyone has troubled me in my life. It’s all my luck and destiny. It’s my journey. Actually trouble keeps you grounded.”
While stories of his rivalry with Shah Rukh Khan often do the rounds, Salman continues to spring surprises. He said he has no issues if SRK wants to come to the house to promote his film. “He should come to the house and meet the contestants. He is welcome in the house.”
