‘Critics always slam me’

Prabhu admits that he does hope to win critical approval someday
After his box office fiasco Action Jackson, Prabhu Deva is back in action with Singh Is Bling. However, he isn’t feeling nervous about his upcoming release at all.
“I made the film the way I wanted to. I put in as much effort into that film as I have in Singh Is Bling. I don’t think about the end result. I only live in the process of making films,” Prabhu tells us.
He also asserts that SIB’s box office fate doesn’t hinge on what the critics have to say about it. “Nine times out of 10, they slam my movies. It has got nothing to do with whether my films are hits or flops. R…Rajkumar was a hit, while Action Jackson was a flop. Both got equally bad reviews.”
However, Prabhu admits that he does hope to win critical approval someday. “I can’t say I don’t care about what the critics say. Because I do. I hope to win them over one of these days!”
On another subject, Prabhu and his leading man Akshay Kumar got along like a house on fire during the shoot of SIB. “It was even better than during Rowdy Rathore.
We were absolutely on the same wavelength. We wanted to make a fun film with a message. This is a film about an aimless wastrel of a guy who wants to win his father’s approval,” Prabhu says. In fact, the idea of naming the film Singh Is Bling, was Akshay’s. “Bling is anything that’s shiny and eye-catching,” Prabhu explains. “That’s what Akshay’s character wants to make of his life.”
