TRS ready to go on full offensive today
Opposition charges to be countered with facts, figures
Hyderabad: A short notice discussion on farmers’ suicide and the drought conditions in Telangana is going to take up most of the time on Tuesday in Telangana Assembly with Speaker S. Madhusudana Chary suspending the Question Hour on the day and deciding to take the special debate straight away from 10 am.
Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao held a strategy meeting with his party seniors on Sunday and it was decided to take an offensive stand against the Opposition whenever they ‘feel’ aggrieved by their criticism against the TRS.
The government is also going to circulate a report on the issue, to be useful for the debate. However, the Congress has so far not finalised its ‘star speaker’ to initiate the debate on Tuesday. “Our leader Jana Reddy will decide tomorrow who should initiate the debate,” deputy leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said.
Meanwhile, speaking to this newspaper on Sunday, IT and panchayat raj minister K.T. Rama Rao said, “We will address every current issue; starting with agricultural distress on the September 29. We are for discussion and debate and our CM is even willing to extend the session to discuss all outstanding issues that the Opposition wants to raise. If they intentionally obstruct and not come for a healthy debate, we will have our own strategy which we will chalk out ad hoc.”
But TRS sources said, the CM is very particular about the government giving all facts regarding farmers’ suicides, and the happenings in both previous Congress and TD regime where suicides took place despite measures taken. “We will disclose details of suicides in united AP, the measures taken then and now, to put the Opposition on the defensive,” said a source.
