State wants 90% seats, jobs to be secured by natives
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government is following a different set of rules to determine local status of students and job aspirants to ensure that only TS natives benefit.
For fee reimbursement scheme, it is considering as locals, students who studied for four years in Telangana out of seven years prior to admission in degree or PG courses. But for jobs, it is considering only those aspirants as locals who did schooling from Class IV to X in TS.
The recent recruitment announced by power utilities to fill engineering posts is being done in the new method besides making it mandatory for job aspirants to obtain nativity certificate afresh issued by TS.
It is widely believed that these new norms are to check AP students from securing TS jobs, who migrated to TS, especially Hyderabad, for higher education after completing their schooling in their native places.
The government feels that in this way 90 per cent of the jobs to be filled through various recruitment exams would be secured by only TS natives. The recruitment agencies seeking only date of birth certificate and SSC from candidates as proof of their local status besides certificate of residence/ nativity is further adding credence to this argument. However, none of the officials is willing to come on record to clarify on this issue and remain tight-lipped.
When contacted, TS Transco/ Genco CMD D. Prabhakar Rao said, “I can’t comment on that. But I can say that the local norms for power utility jobs are in accordance with prescribed norms and exactly what is being followed by other recruitment agencies.”
