MCI suspends 13 Andhra Pradesh, Telangana doctors
Hyderabad: The Medical Council of India on Saturday put up a list of 13 doctors who have been suspended in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. These doctors are among the 129 doctors in the country who have been suspended for not following medical procedures or breaking rules.
The list of ‘Presently Blacklisted Doctors’ has been sent to the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council which is a combined council for both the states. The list mentions the suspension date and the date of restoration for the doctors.
A senior officer in Andhra Pradesh Medical Council said, “Dr C. Swami Naidu had given a false death certificate for three persons who are still alive.”
The council took this very seriously and recommended suspension for three years which has been upheld by the MCI. Similarly, Dr Mir Liaqat Ali and Dr V. Srinvias Rao didn’t follow medical procedures properly. A woman died after being given anaesthesia by Dr Ali, Dr Rao was suspended for secondary responsibility.”
With constant complaints of homoeopathy and ayurvedic doctors being appointed in nursing homes and clinics, the Medical Council of India has taken a strict view to curb these practices.
Dr Ravinder Reddy, chairman of Andhra Pradesh Medical Council, said, “Despite strict rules, nursing homes continue to employ unqualified doctors which is leading to these problems.
They have been suspended for a year for employing unqualified people. For the allopathic doctors, a homoeopath and an ayurvedic doctor and can’t be employed in allopathic institutes. This has to be strictly followed and understood by all practicing doctors.”
A senior doctor said, “A professor submitted an affidavit of teaching in a medical college in AP but when the MCI visited he was not there. The doctor is practising in a medical college in Puducherry. These kinds of discrepancies can’t be tolerated and it is very important to furnish proper details. A suspension order was given for three months to send out a strict message to all of them that such acts will not be tolerated.”
