Errabelli Dayakar Rao held as TRS, TD clash

Several activists from both parties and two mediapersons sustained injuries
PALAKURTHY (WARANGAL): The TRS and TD were at it once again, hurling stones at each other, this time a function at a local market yard. Several activists from both parties and two mediapersons sustained injuries in the stone pelting, and a police sub-inspector was assaulted by TD workers.
The clashes occurred during a function where Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari was to inaugurate additional rooms at the Palakurthy market yard
Telugu Desam leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao arrived at the venue with his followers, and activists of both parties began shouting slogans against each other. This led to arguments between the two which escalated to stone pelting. Several persons were injured from both the sides while two of the media persons Srinivas and Nayeem sustained head injuries.
Police caned the activists, and sent Mr Dayakar Rao and the TD workers out of the market yard. Local sub-inspector Osman Sharif who arrived at the spot was surrounded and attacked by TD workers. He received a severe blow on his head. Mr Dayakar Rao was arrested and taken to the Narmetta police station.
Later Mr Srihari finished his programme at Palakurthy and reached Kodakandla to inaugurate some local development works, TD workers blocked his way, shouting slogans. The police, alerted by the incident, were present in good numbers took the agitating TD workers away.
Palakurthy has become a battleground for Mr Dayakar Rao and Mr Srihari, leading to clashes between their supporters.
TRS and TD workers almost came to blows at a programme in Bommera on May 24. On May 11, Mr Srihari and Mr Dayakar Rao got into an argument at a Mission Kakatiya programme at Katrapalli in Raiparthy.
TD wants Errabelli released
The Telangana TD delegation led by its president L. Ramana and a few MLAs on Sunday evening rushed to the DGP’s office and demanded the release of their leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao. They alleged that he was attacked by TRS workers at Palakurthy in Warangal.
However, as the DGP was overseeing Ganesh immersion when they came to his office, they met the in-charge official there and registered their protest. They complained that TRS workers attacked their leader without provocation.
