Boy attacked by tusker feigns death, escapes
Raipur: It may sound incredulous, stranger than fiction, but it is real. A 10-year-old boy in a forested village of Chhattisgarh on Sunday escaped certain death when he feigned death before a marauding tusker, prodding the wild animal to ignore him.
The incident occurred in the tribal village of Pandripani in north Chhattisgarh district of Jashpur. According to local forester R.C.Chand, a herd of elephant strayed into the village early on Sunday morning.
A group of local villagers including some children who had gone to the forest to collect firewood came face to face with these pachyderms. While others managed to escape to safety, the boy, Sraban Ram, came under attack by a tusker in the herd.
He however did not panic and simply lay down on the ground feigning death to escape attack by the tusker.
