400 bottles of alcohol seized in Malkajgiri
Hyderabad: The police seized around 400 bottles of alcohol which was illegally stored in a house in the Malkajgiri area on Sunday. The police also seized bottles of alcohol worth around Rs 1 lakh from an illegally run belt shop.
Police said that Venkatesh Yadav, a partner of Tirumala Wines in Malkajgiri, diverted stocks to his home in Yadav Colony and was planning to sell them at a higher price in view of the restrictions on alcohol due to Ganesh immersion.
Receiving a tip off, the police raided his house at around 2 pm on Sunday. “We seized 400 quarter bottles of liquor from his house. The value of the seized material would be around Rs 40,000,” said inspector Shekhar Goud.
In the other case police said that one M.M. Mallesh was illegally operating a belt shop in Gundla Pochampally village. He made arrangements to supply alcohol to his regular customers during immersion. Police raided his house at around 2 am on Saturday.
“We seized 57 bottles of alcohol and 39 bottles of beer. The value of the material would be around '1 lakh,” said inspector D.V. Ranga Reddy. A case was registered against the accused and they were sent to judicial remand.
