I have nothing to hide, says Virbhadra Singh

BJP leaders, including former Chief Minister demanded Singh's resignation on moral grounds

New Delhi: A day after CBI raided his premises, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Sunday said he has "nothing to hide", in his first reaction over the allegations of Disproportionate Assets against him. His comments in a series of tweets came as the Congress Legislature Party expressed "unflinching support" to him amid the intensification of probe by CBI against him.

In an unprecedented action on a serving Chief Minister, CBI yesterday raided the official residence of Singh in Shimla and 12 other places in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets case on a day his daughter was getting married.

In the wake of CBI raids, BJP leaders of the state, including former Chief Minister P K Dhumal, have demanded Singh's resignation on moral grounds. Meanwhile, Congress Legislature Party met here today under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister and expressed "unflinching support" to Singh.

The Congress said all its 34 MLAs and four independent MLAs, who attended the meeting, rejected demands for Singh's resignation and decided to submit a memorandum to President Pranab Mukherjee against the "political vendetta" unleashed by the Central BJP leadership against the Congress-led government.

The party alleged misuse of CBI to destabilize "the strong and popular" democratically-elected Congress government.
