Himachal CM Virbhadra Singh booked over disproportionate assets

The developments came on the day that Mr Singh’s daughter was getting married

New Delhi: The CBI on Saturday registered a disproportionate assets case against Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and his wife and searched 13 locations in the state, including at his residence in Shimla, and in Delhi.

The developments came on the day that Mr Singh’s daughter was getting married. Earlier, the agency had registered a preliminary enquiry (PE) against Mr Singh and his family members for allegedly amassing wealth (Rs 6.03 crore) disproportionate to their known sources of income while serving as Union minister of steel in the UPA government.

Talking to Deccan Chronicle, the CBI spokesperson, Ms Dev Preet Singh, said, “This FIR was the outcome of a preliminary enquiry which revealed that Mr Singh, while serving during 2009-2012, had allegedly accumulated assets worth (approximately) Rs 6.03 crore.
