Hyderabad: Utter confusion prevails over the fate of two women Haj pilgrims from Telangana who had reportedly lost their lives in the stampede at Meena in Saudi Arabia Thursday. The Saudi authorities reportedly refused to acknowledge that they died in the tragedy.
The names of Bibi Jaan, resident of LB Nagar and Sabha Tasleem, resident of Chandrayanagutta, were not found in the list that was sent to the Indian Consulate in Jeddah by the Saudi Authorities Saturday. When contacted, SA Shukoor, special officer for the state Haj committee, said there was an ambiguity with regard to completion of formalities vis-a-vis the two deaths and he was in touch with the consulate.
The consulate officials have taken the husband of Bibi Jaan to Jeddah from Mecca and recorded his statement about the death of his wife. It will be communicated to the Saudi government and relevant papers would also be placed before the Saudi government, he said.
