KOZHIKODE: With a mission to educate and encourage healthy living, Kudumbashree Kozhikode District Mission launched its expert ‘green technicians’under its new innovation- ‘Jaivajyoti 2015’.
Minister for Social Justice and Panchayath Dr MK Muneer and Corporation Mayor AK Premajam inaugurated the project by introducing the first such garden in the city at an apartment near Thondayad Bypass.
Inaugurating the project, the Minister said, “It is high time that we have good quality food by adopting good cultivation practices where bio- manure and bio-fertilisers are used, hence our experts of Kudumbashree will guide you in the best possible way to develop your own vegetable garden at home at a reasonable expense”.
In these days of global warming, it was time to prevent soil contamination by stopping chemical-fed cultivation, he further pointed out. Green technicians will act as nodal power in ensuring vegetable garden by each resident in the city. Services of experts will be provided to people of all sectors including agri- entrepreneurs of Kudumbashree and various residents associations.
‘Green technicians’ is an attempt to set an example for others to take up organic farming in 1,125 acres of barren land, which was identified during the survey conducted by its volunteers as part of the Central Government project Mahila Kisan Sashakthikaran Pariyojana (MKSP).
