Two-day-old infant found abandoned near dargah in Ranga Reddy district
Hyderabad: A two-day-old girl was rescued by the police in Ranga Reddy district on Thursday. The child, who was abandoned in the bushes near a dargah was noticed by devotees. The child was handed over to officials from the ICDS department, who later shifted her to the Shishuvihar at Hyderabad.
On Thursday, at around 8.30 am, some devotees who came to visit the Pahilwanshahi dargah in Shabad, heard a noise and alerted a shepherd, thinking that it came from a goat.
When he went searching he was shocked to see a new born baby wrapped in a polythene cover. He informed sarpanch Venkat Yadav. and he alerted the police.
“The baby had ant bites on her back and legs. There are no other injuries,” said Shabad SI Sridhar Reddy. Later, she was handed over to Shishuvihar, after tests at Niloufer.
Police are verifying details to trace the child's parents.
