Can’t let Jagan Mohan Reddy die, says Chandrababu Naidu
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu refused to give permission to YSR Congress chief and Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to conduct an indefinite hunger strike demanding special category status to AP.
Speaking to the media on Thursday in New Delhi, the Chief Minister wondered how can the government give permission when someone applies to die. He said that if Mr Reddy has to conduct the deeksha, it has to be in Delhi and not at Guntur.
During the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the UPA-led Central government had promised to accord special category status to the residual state.
However, the BJP-led Central government had refused to grant AP the special status, which would have helped the state to get major chunk of Central funds.
To a question, when Mr Reddy was being denied permission to conduct the deeksha how did the state government conduct the Sankalpa Deeksha a few days ago, the Chief Minister replied that the deeksha conducted by the government was for the development of the state.
He said “By sitting on roads the problems will not be solved.”
