Kidnapped techie found murdered in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A 29 year-old software professional who was allegedly kidnapped on Wednesday was found murdered at an apartment in Jawaharnagar on Thursday.
Rakesh Reddy, who was scouting for a job after returning from the United States with an MS degree, was found with his throat slit.
He had gone missing on Wednesday and some unidentified persons had called his father, Bal Reddy, a retired employee from Karimnagar district, who stays at Srinivasnagar Colony, Nagaram, demanding a ransom of '8 lakh to release him.
Mr Bal Reddy told the callers, who called him twice, that he had no money and could not pay the ransom. he then approached the police with a complaint that his son has been kidnapped.
On Thursday morning, Rakesh’s uncle Sridhar Reddy found him dead in a flat on the second floor of Sagar Apartments.
The flat belongs to a distant relative named Harish.
“His throat had a deep slit. Before killing him, they might have strangled him. They also forced a piece of cloth into his mouth,” said Jawaharnagar inspector P. Venkatagiri.
Police could not trace Rakesh’s mobile and it is switched off. Police suspect the hand of his relatives behind the murder. The police is also verifying the call records of his mobile phone. The case is being investigated.
