Glamour doesn’t interest me: Jaqlene

Jaqlene has played a mother of two kids in Unakenna Venum Sollu
Actress Jaqlene Prakash is all smiles for the response she has been receiving for her role in the recently released horror flick Unakenna Venum Sollu, earlier titled Daisy. Jaqlene has played a mother of two kids in the film.
Excited about her debut, she says that her role has a lot of depth. When asked, what made her say ‘yes’ to the film (because not many actresses choose to debut in film industry in the role of a mother), she says, “I couldn’t have asked for a better debut because the script moved me so much. The movie isn’t just a story of ghost, but holds quite an intriguing plot about the ghost of an eight-year-old. The plot is inspired by real life incidents, and is peppered with family sentiments. It will have elements of black magic, possession and hypnotherapy. It also throws light on a number of issues, including live-in relationships and the manner in which a society treats women. Unakenna... also has a twist in the form of paranormal activities and it's the story of a woman, working in an MNC, languishing after being criticised in social circles for not bearing a child,” says Jaqlene. Speaking more about the movie, she says, “The story has a strong message about society today and has an emotional character that is sure to work with our audiences.”
A dancer by profession, Jaqlene wants to do more movies that can showcase her skills as an actor. “Dance has always been my passion. I have been a part of Jodi No 1 and Kana Kaanum Kaalangal, a popular soap on Vijay TV. I would love to do a movie like Kangana Ranaut’s Queen and want to be a part of good movies. Also I would want to do the kinds of movies that Nandita Das and Vidya Balan do. Glamour doesn’t interest me. I am not here to play the typical heroine or love interest of the hero. I want to be like Ramya Krishnan. Audiences throng to the theatres to watch her onscreen, who carries most of the film on her shoulders,” she smiles. What’s up next for her? “I am quite choosy with my films. I don’t want to sign films for the sake of just doing it. I can actually be an actress and have fun by playing challenging roles,” she signs off.
