Women rush for wine licences in Nizamabad

The government fixed Rs 50,000 non-refundable amount for wine applications

Nizamabad: Women also came forward to get the licences for wine shops in Nizamabad district. Interestingly, three women got licences for wine shops at Banswada, Armoor and Kamareddy for 2015-17 excise year. Collector Yogitha Rana picked up the lucky draw in the presence of applicants and excise officials here on Wednesday.

Prohibition and excise officials invited tenders for 130 shops in Nizamabad district, but 1,293 applications received. Single tenders received for 15 shops and no tenders received for five shops at Fakirabad in Navipet mandal, Mendora in Balkonda, Kotagiri, Perkit in Armoor mandal and one shop in Armoor municipality. To avoid non-serious applicants, the government fixed Rs 50,000 non-refundable amount for wine applications.
