Rs 19.5 lakh missing from Central Bank of India locker

The police is baffled as there is no sign of a break-in

Hyderabad: In a case of suspected theft, Rs 19.5 lakh has gone missing from the locker of the Central Bank of India branch at Patancheru. The police is baffled as there is no sign of a break-in. Police suspects that an insider working at the branch must have done the job.

The victim, K. Gangadhar, 62, a retired government employee, had kept Rs 20 lakh in his personal locker at the bank on September 9.

“However, when he came back to the bank on September 21 and checked the locker, only Rs 50,000 was found inside the locker,” said a police official from Medak.

The victim alleged that despite approaching the officials in charge at the bank with a complaint, they had not taken any action so far. Police has booked a case. Cops have collected CCTV footage from the bank.
