While Delhi is being haunted by Type 4 strain of Dengue disease as the numbers surge in the capital, Bengaluru seems to be afflicted by the Type-2 strain of the dengue virus
Chennai: Rajapalayam municipality is on alert following a major dengue outbreak. The state government is taking all steps to keep the fever at bay, the Assembly was informed on Wednesday. The state health department’s policy note said Tamil Nadu recorded 6,122 dengue cases in 2013 and the incidence got reduced to 2,804 in 2014 resulting in three dengue deaths. During the current year, 2,335 cases with five deaths, including an outbreak in Rajapalayam, is reported.
However, the good news is that Chikungunya and Malaria cases had drastically reduced. From 859 in 2013, Chikungunya cases dipped to 543 and 207 cases in 2014 and 2015. Similarly, malaria cases slipped from 8,729 in 2014 to 3057 in 2015 so far, the policy note said.
To prevent the incidence of swine flu, so far 1,70,000 doses of vaccines have been purchased to vaccinate the medical staff and doctors involved in treating the disease, the noted said.
