Maoist angle ruled out by Telangana police
They were not landmines as reported initially
HYDERABAD: Railway Protection Force of South Central Railways, Government Railway Police and Telangana state Intelligence departments collected details from the West Bengal CID and other agencies involved in the investigation.
A TS intelligence official said, “They were not landmines as reported initially. We have ruled out the Maoist angle. The terror angle is being verified as these modules usually use such bombs. Our agencies are verifying as we don’t want to take chances given the Ganesh immersion and Bakrid festivals.”
When contacted, Railway Protection Force commissioner Sanjay Sankrityayan said, “This happened in Kolkata, not in SCR limits. We are collecting details. It may not be an explosive. However, we will chalk out a plan based on the information. We have already sounded a general alert in all stations in SCR. Bomb squads are sanitising all stations.”
