Colleges told to equip laboratories

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice S.V. Bhatt was granting the interim order while dealing with a batch of petitions and appeals with regard to the affiliation row between the managements and the awaharlal Nehru Technological University.

The bench gave the managements three months to appoint faculty having Ph.Ds. The bench said after three months the government will constitute teams, including a member of the High Court, to conduct inspections afresh and the court will pass appropriate orders after perusing the fresh reports.

The bench made it clear that if it found that any of the colleges had failed to comply with the norms, the court would pass orders either for closure of the institution or cancellation of the course concerned.

The bench said these interim orders would be applicable to colleges that have approached the court after rejection of affiliation by the JNTU despite approval from the AICTE.

The bench ordered the managements of tech colleges to file an affidavit assuring the court that they will rectify the deficiencies pointed out by the inspection teams.

The bench adjourned the case to November 4.

Justice Raja Elango of the Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday issued a notice to TD MLA Revanth Reddy, the prime accused in the cash-for-vote scam, seeking his stance on a plea by the TS ACB, seeking cancellation of his bail.

Mr Ravi Kiran Rao, special public prosecutor of ACB, brought to the notice of the court that the accused had violated his bail conditions. He said that the court, while relaxing the bail conditions of Mr Reddy, had ordered that that he should not interfere with the investigation and would not make any remarks in connection with the case.

He pointed out that Mr Reddy had attended a TD workers’ meeting on September 9 in a function hall in LB Nagar where he had made certain remarks which would not only deter the witnesses in the case but also lead to intimidation of the witnesses. While issuing the notice to the TD MLA, the judge asked the counsel of the MLA to properly advise the accused to honour his bail conditions and adjourned the hearing.

The HC has refused to stay the written test scheduled on Oct. 17 announced by the TSPC to recruit agricultural officers, while ordering the TSPSC not to finalise the process of its ongoing recruitment of agricultural officers in the state.

A division bench comprising Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao and Justice Ms Anis granted the interim order while hearing a batch of petitions by B. Mallesh and 196 others challenging the procedure being followed by the TSPC for the recruitments.
