Chinese expertise to help develop city infrastructure
The government has already devised Strategic Road Development Programme
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday sought the partnership of Chinese infrastructure companies in creating world-class infrastructure facilities in Hyderabad and other important cities of Telangana.
Directors of China-based Anju Infrastructure, Yogesh Wagah and Manoj Gandhi, besides chairman of Radic Consultants Rajkumar and bridge design engineer B.P. Singh called on Mr Rao at his camp office in Begumpet. Mr Rao disclosed the plans of the Telangana government for creating international facilities in Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Ramangundam, Mancherial etc and sought their participation in developing such facilities.
He told them that the government has already devised Strategic Road Development Programme to build new flyovers, multi-grade separators and skywalks, to ease traffic congestion in Hyderabad and tenders have been called for the purpose recently. “Hyderabad has been witnessing rapid development year-on-year and the existing infrastructure is no way sufficient to cater to future needs. A lot needs to be done on infrastructure front,” Mr Rao said.
He said Hyderabad city has been expanding very fast and has touched towns’ located 50 km away such as Toopran, Gajwel, Bhongir, Shadnagar, Vikarabad, and Narsapur among others, which necessitated the revision of the existing Master Plan to create infrastructure facilities accordingly. Mr Rao said that that the government has planned to lay a 42-km six-lane stretch on Musi River from east to west in the city adding that the government wants to have a suspension bridge at Durgam Cheruvu and three bridges across Godavari River. Mr Rao said he will hold another meeting with these companies to discuss executing these projects.
