HyderabadAIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday lambasted Digvijay Singh for posting an image on Twitter that showed his image with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, along with a tweet that said: “two perpetrators of religious fanaticism who are destroying the social fabric of this country”.
Mr Singh, in his tweet, said he endorsed the photo he had received from a friend. Interestingly, the Congress had branded Mr Owaisi as “a real messiah of secularism” when he was aligned with the UPA government, but has been systematically targeting him and his party after he disassociated with the UPA.
Mr Owaisi, addressing a gathering at Darussalam, the party headquarters, without naming Digvijay Singh, questioned the basis for insulting Muslims. He said the Congress leader has insulted every Muslim of the country by  tweeting a morphed image of a bearded Muslim with the RSS leader, and questioned if this was not fanaticism.
“It is a not a question of my image, I will go to the grave one day. But I want to make it clear that Congress leaders have no right to insult 17 crore Muslims of this country.” Mr Owaisi dared Mr Singh to post a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending a family function of the Congress leader.
Recalling various communal clashes that took place during the Congress period, he wondered if these incidents had not damaged the social fabric of the country.
