Hyderabad: The AOC Regimental Association which constructed a building near Thapar stadium in West Marredpally without permission of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board has been issued a notice for demolition under the Cantonment Act.
However, the ward members have left room for the association to opt for composition (penalty and regularisation). If the Association opts for this, under the act they will be fined and the building will be regularised.
The association has about 33,275 sq yards in surveys No. 40 and 41, (GLR Survey No. 469 part) in West Marredpally. The land was transferred to the association several decades ago as it could be used for both serving and retired army personnel and is now considered private land.
The association applied for building permission to construct a function hall in a plinth area of 1,424 sq metres for use by both army personnel and civilians in January 2015. They also sought exemption of payment of Rs 15 lakh as building fee. However without the building permission the association went ahead with the construction of the function hall.
