Most deaths are not reported to the police as they take place in houses

Hyderabad: Eleven more people including four women have died due to adulterated toddy withdrawal symptoms in Telangana on Wednesday. Two people committed suicide as they could not take the pain.

The deaths were reported in Mahbubnagar and Adilabad districts. While eight people died in Mahabubnagar, three died in Adilabad district.

Meanwhile, the police confirmed only five deaths among the 11. Officials said that most deaths are not reported to the police as they take place in houses.

Local sources from the districts said that five people have died in hospital, while the rest died in their houses. According the local sources, deaths were reported in Shadnagar, Jadcherla, Athmakur Mandal and Gadwal.

Two people, B. Buchamma, 60, and J. Ravindra Reddy, 50, set themselves ablaze in their houses at Atmakur after they developed mental disorder, local sources said.

Hundreds of people, mostly old men and women, are still being treated in hospitals across the city. Many have run off from hospital, while around 15 people were declared normal and discharged after treatment on Wednesday.
