Salem: In a rare case, a-60-year-old woman who had a long, sharp knife thrust into her back by her 70 year-old-husband was saved after a four-hour surgery at the Salem GH on Wednesday.
The doctors at the Dr Mohan Kumaramangalam government hospital in Salem were shocked to see an elderly woman, Logammal, with a long knife stuck into her back.
The knife had pierced through her back and injured her lungs too. The 60-year-old woman was screaming uncontrollably in pain, while her relatives and neighbours who had rushed to the hospital almost lost hope of her recovery. She was wheeled into the operation theatre for an arduous four-hour surgery to deftly pull out the knife.
