The city buzzing with the rumour that onetime popular Telugu actress Laya, who was also part of Tamil films like Vijayakanth’s Gajendra, met with an accident in the US and has been treated for injuries at a hospital, and that her condition was stable. Several websites and television channels reported that Laya, who quit acting after getting married to Dr Sri Ganesh and settling in California, met with the mishap while she was travelling to Los Angeles.
Thankfully, it turned out to be a rumour spread by unknown sources. The report of her accident has caused panic among her fans. Also, shaken by the calls and messages from her close friends and relatives enquiring about her health, Laya chose to clarify through a recorded video that there is no truth in the reports.
“I am quite hale and healthy and no such incident has happened to me. And it is my request to media houses to verify news before publishing or broadcasting it, since it creates unnecessary anxiety among my kith and kin as well as fans.” She also thanked her fans and well-wishers for their concern.
