Karunakaran bags yet another lead hero role

Comedians turning hero is not a new phenomenon in Tamil cinema. Joining the long list of individuals that include Vadivelu, Vivek and Santhanam, is Karunakaran who was once a sidekick to many stars. He has bagged two films as the lead hero. After ace filmmaker Radha Mohan chose him for Uppu Karuvadu as the male lead, Karunakaran has got yet another movie Gadigaara Manithargal. Vaigarai Balan, a former assistant of noted filmmaker Sasikumar, is directing the movie.

Versatile actor Kishore has also been roped in as one of the leads in the film. Sherin from Bengaluru who has acted in few Kannada films makes her debut in Tamil opposite Karuna. The movie is about rural youths who come to the city in search of a job, and how they find it difficult to find accommodation in the city, with romance and ample humour thrown in for spice. Apart from comedy, Karunakaran’s role has been designed so that there’s enough scope for emotions too, claims the director.
