Popular bus app designed for Kovai

It took us two months to develop the app for Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: After making successful footprints in Chennai, Raft, a public transport app for bus trips has launched their service for Coimbatoreans.

"It took us two months to develop the app for Coimbatore," said V. Harikrishnan, one of the team members in Coimbatore. The Raft app takes less time, functions well on 2G as well and it takes only 3MB space. "One need not use navigation in this app, multiple route options between two stops on the same expanded result page could be seen," explains Harikrishnan.

"At present we have collected information of over 2,300 stops and 500 routes to give the latest and most accurate info to the bus commuters of Coimbatore," he said.

The data research team in Coimbatore is working on the technical side to upgrade the app developed by IIT-M graduates Siddharth Krishnaswamy, Krishna Chaitanya and Akhilesh Koppineni. The app is mostly used by students and those who commute by public transport every day.

"We are in the process to add real time road traffic details soon - suppose a bus is delayed due to traffic congestion the commuters will be able to find out the bus location. We will also include private buses as well in future," said Harikrishnan.

The team of 10 in their 20s started working on this app, after realising that most of the information such as stop locations, route numbers and schedules has not been either captured or digitized in other apps.

Raft app could be downloaded from app.letsraft.in
