Kanam Rajendran taunts SNDP on reservation issue
Thiruvananthapuram: CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran on Tuesday asked the SNDP Yogam leadership to make its stand clear on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's statement seeking reconsideration of the reservation policy.
At a press conference held at the end of the two-day state executive meeting of the party here, he said the party was keenly awaiting the response of the leaders of SNDP and dalit outfits who were cozying up to the Sangh Parivar.
The state executive passed a resolution against the RSS chief’s move to reconsider reservations. “BJP says it has nothing to do with the RSS chief’s views. We all know how the prime minister, his cabinet colleagues and top BJP leaders gave report cards like obedient students on their work to the RSS top brass in Delhi recently,” he said and added that the party was in favour of continuing the current reservation and also strongly advocated 10 per cent reservation for the economically backward among forward communities.
On the Munnar strike, he said that strict directions had been given to the leaders who were misusing the facilities provided by the management as part of the agreement with trade unions.
There are instances of people getting more than two three quarters and subletting these to make money.
The party decided to raise the representation of women in the general council and trade union leadership to 50 per cent.
Most leaders who have contested local bodies poll twice will not be fielded for the third time. However, exemptions will be granted based on victory chances.
