Govt approves Rs 170 crore to service Sabari roads

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mr. Oommen Chandy to review arrangements for the upcoming Sabarimala pilgrimage season decided to sanction Rs 170 crore for maintenance of all roads leading to the hill shrine.
It was also decided to expedite all ongoing works, including construction of queue complexes and water tanks before the pilgrimage season.
Devaswom minister V S Sivakumar said in a statement that a garbage treatment plant at Sabarimala would be inaugurated on October 19.
Works on six new queue complexes would also be completed before the piligrimage season. Lights would be installed along the Swami Ayyappan road.
The other works progressing include toilet complexes at Sabarimala and Pamba. Construction of a hospital complex at Sannidhanam at a cost of Rs 5 crore would commence soon.
During the pilgrimage season, four mobile medical squads and 20 ambulances would be put into service at Sabarimala. aPeople’s representatives and senior officials also attended the meeting.
