The local public, who came to know of the accident, resorted to a road block

Coimbatore: People resorted to a road block after a speeding lorry hit a bike rider on the Kulathupalayam Road near Thondamuthur on Tuesday. Police said Venkatesh, 36, a construction worker from Muthipalayam was riding a two wheeler towards Thaliyur, when a speeding lorry hit him near a curve on the Kulathupalayam Road.
The victim, who suffered serious injuries, was immediately rushed to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for treatment. The local public, who came to know of the accident, resorted to a road block demanding that police curb speeding vehicles. After the police promised to take measures, the people withdrew their protest. Traffic was affected on the stretch for nearly half an hour due to the protest.
