Coimbatore: 2,000 applications received for toilets
Coimbatore: About 2,000 households in Coimbatore city have sent applications to the corporation to get funds from the Swachh Bharat scheme to build toilets. The Central government has directed all local bodies to conduct a survey to identify houses without toilets. As part of the survey, the Coimbatore corporation collected applications from households which do not have toilet facilities.
“Sanitary inspectors of Coimbatore corporation have conducted the survey. So far, we have received 2,000 applications to get toilet facility with the aid of the Central government under the Swachh Bharat scheme. Most of the applications came from newly added corporation areas. We are involved in the process to compile all application details,” said corporation officials.
The state-level meeting of the Swachh Bharat will be held on Wednesday in Chennai in which all the corporation health department officials will participate. After compiling the entire data on toilet facilities, the state government will send the proposal to the central government for funding. On September 28, Coimbatore district level Swachh Bharat coordination meeting will be held at the Coimbatore corporation office in which all departmental heads will participate,” they added.
