Nandita Swetha: Basking in her busy schedule

Nandita Swetha is on a roll with back-to-back films of different genres in her kitty. Having completed her portions for Caarthick Raju’s Ulkuthu recently, which has her paired opposite Dinesh, the actress says she’s quite enjoying her busy schedules. The film, which is mostly set against the backdrop of a harbour in Nagercoil, has the actress essaying a sales girl in a textile shop. Though she has played the ‘homely girl’ before, Nandita avers that the role in Ulkuthu has a completely different flavour and that she was gratified portraying it.
The actress says in detail, “First things first — it was nice working with Dinesh post Attakathi — back then both of us were newbies and had our own concerns. Now, equipped with the experience of working in few films, we had a rollicking time working for Ulkuthu. In the film, most of my portions were shot near the beach side, as the character I play has her home facing a beach. It was a very happening place with the ambience of several boats, petty fish markets, busy sailors, etc. I think this was the most humid place I have ever been for shooting. The smell of fish was another thing which was annoying — I don’t eat fish and it was difficult for me to cope up with the place in the initial days.”
However, Nandita says that she got used to it gradually and later had a very enjoyable experience working with the crew and the people belonging to the area. A few scenes were shot inside a real textile shop and had real sales girls sharing screen space with the actress. “I was thrilled working with all of them — the Tamil dialect in Nagercoil is very different and it was difficult to understand a few words. But, luckily the director wanted me to be myself and get into the shoes of the character,” she smiles.
All happy for her buddies with whom she teamed up in her debut film Attakathi, she believes the film has brought luck for many associated with it. The director of the film Pa Ranjith is currently directing Rajinikanth in Kabali with its hero Dinesh playing a crucial role in the latter. Santhosh Narayanan who scored music for the film too has been roped in for Kabali. On the other hand, Nandita is awaiting the release of the magnum opus Vijay-starrer Puli. The actress is also looking forward to Idam Porul Yeval, Anjala and Uppu Karuvadu to hit the screens.
