Yogakshema Sabha ready for ties with SNDP
Mr Bhattathiripad lashed out at Chief Minister Oommen Chandy

Kottayam: Even as the Nair Service Society (NSS) rejected the idea of a new political party representing the majority community, the Yogakshema Sabha has dropped enough hints at joining the move.
Akkeeraman Kalidasan Bhattathiripad, president of the organisation of Kerala Namboodiri Brahmins, told Deccan Chronicle that the options were open if any group came to address the grievances of the community.
He was reacting to SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan's statement proposing to launch a new party to fight the “neglected” majority community rights.
“If some organisations are willing to associate with us, we will be willing to work with them. If the new political party too is willing, we will be interested in working with them,” he told DC on Monday.
He said his community had long been sidelined by the mainstream parties of the state. “Even the Shanthis employed by us are still considered as Class 4 employees,” he said. “It’s in this context that we are expressing our willingness”.
Earlier in the day, Mr Bhattathiripad lashed out at Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who failed to reach the venue to inaugurate the concluding session of the Sabha, saying, “I don’t know whether the Chief Minister is ignoring us just because we are a minority.”
