Telangana Druggists and Chemists Association to go on strike on September 28

There have been constant complaints that medicines that are sent across India get spoiled

Hyderabad: The Telangana Druggists and Chemists Association will go on strike on September 28 to protest the proposed amendment to the rules of the central health ministry whereby only qualified pharmacists can operate chemists’ shops.

The clause was recommended by the Drugs Technical Advisory Board to the Union health ministry as they were of the view that a qualified and trained pharmacist had better knowledge of “good storage and distribution practices”.

There have been constant complaints that medicines that are sent across India get spoiled or lose their efficacy due to the summer heat.
