New colours will spice up NDA in TN: P Muralidhar Rao
Chennai: Hinting at political realignment in the state BJP national general secretary P. Muralidhar Rao on Monday said “new colours will be added and new strength will come to the NDA.” Speaking to reporters after a detailed discussion with the party seniors here he said he was hopeful that things would “dramatically change in near future.” “You will see new colours are added and new strength will come to NDA.”
When asked if he meant the addition of “Two Leaves” (symbol of ruling AIADMK), he laughed and said, “leaves or fruits we will decide… based on events and incidents, you want to read between the lines,” he said apparently referring to the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, recently. The BJP, he said, is for alternate politics and is for good governance. To a question, he replied that the PMK’s announcement of Dr Anbumani as chief ministerial candidate would not affect the basic dynamics of NDA. On the Sri Lankan issue, he said his party fully endorsed the concerns of the people in Tamil Nadu. Winning booths will help to win polls, is the new catchphrase for the BJP, which is all set to launch the mobilisation drive to ensure the votes are consolidated ahead of the crucial Assembly polls next year.
Right from block, panchayat and booth level, the party would commence the mobilisation of various sections including first time voters, occupational communities, SCs. For the first time the party has formed various departments to assess its strength among diverse sections in the state.
Muralidhar Rao who reviewed the state of preparedness of the TN unit for the elections discussed the strategies to face the 2016 Assembly polls. The meeting with state leaders at Kamalalayam — the BJP headquarters here, also focused on training the BJP functionaries in all the 234 Assembly constituencies. Section wise meetings targeting industrialists, associations, etc., will be held soon.
“The party will concentrate in Tamil Nadu in a big way and our leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party chief Amit Shah besides Union ministers will undertake visits to Tamil Nadu once the elections in Bihar are over on October 16,” says M. Chakravarthy, state vice president.
“Whether the Assembly elections are held as scheduled next year or earlier, the BJP is prepared to face the elections. Our focus now is all the 234 constituencies. BJP will fight the elections to win as an alternative front,” claimed Mr Muralidhar Rao.
Already the party had trained over one lakh functionaries (in poll related work) and this training programme would be continued with vigour to cover scores of cadres. “The mobilisation, seen in Bihar, both sectoral and sectional, will be taken up in Tamil Nadu too, to consolidate our strength,” Mr Rao said.
