BJP woos Kapus to strengthen base

The party wants to bring Kapus into its fold in order to strengthen it

Kakinada: The recent political moves clearly indicate that BJP is trying to woo the Kapu community.

The party wants to bring Kapus into its fold in order to strengthen it. One MLC post is given to Somu Verraju, who recently raised the issue of Rs 1,000 crores for the welfare of Kapus, promised by the Chief Minister N. Chandr-ababu Naidu by setting up of a separate corporation during the elections.

Already, two MLAs Akula Satyanarayana and Pydik-onda Manikyala Rao are re-presenting party from Raj-ahmundry (East Godavari) and Tadepalligudem (West Godavari) respectively.

Manikyala Rao is endowments minister in Chandrababu's government. BJP state in-charge Siddh-ardhnath Singh told the BJP leadership in the st-ate will bring pressure on Chandrababu to include Kapus in the BC list.

The party is already contacting and holding discussions with prominent Kapu leaders in the state as well as the district.

Mudragada Padmanabh-am is one of the leaders among them. “We are in touch with all Kapu leaders in the state. Many of them showed interest to join hands with us. However, they will join in a right time,” said BJP leader Un-garala Venkata Ramana, who is the key person in holding discussions with Kapu leaders.

“BJP is only party to make justice to Kapus as they can hold top posts in the party than TD and YSRC.
