60,000 applied for 8000 teaching posts
Hyderabad: Despite two district officials and several government teachers being served notices for irregularities in the recent government teachers’ transfers, a similar scenario may be witnessed in the recruitment of teaching assistants in the state.
About 8000 posts of teaching assistants were recently sanctioned by the government and nearly 60,000 candidates applied.
But local ministers and legislators in almost all the 10 districts are putting immense pressure on the district officials.
There’s no test for the recruitment and a merit list is drawn up based on marks at each graduation level.
But it is learnt that several ministers and legislators are directing local officials to give the jobs to their recommended candidates.
The application system this year has been centralised and made online but district officials informed that most of the applications were half-filled or not suitable to be considered.
They have been asked to apply offline with hard copies. The final announcement were expected to be made by Monday.
