Hyderabad: The south zone police has closed 146 sheets about criminals (71 suspect sheets and 75 rowdy sheets). Soth zone DCP V. Satyanarayana said that it was done after checking the long term conduct and medical status of the criminals.
Senior police officials said the new initiative is part of the citizen friendly policing movement. “These people are either sick or has kept away from crime since a long time,” said the DCP. However, he warned the sheets will be reopened if they commit any crime in future.
Most of the sheets closed by the police were opened before 2000. Earlier, the south zone police had closed 73 rowdy sheets after verifying the conduct and criminal records of offenders.
