Sr Amala’s murder: Bloodstained shovel found under stairs

KOCHI: The police team probing the murder of Sister Amala in Lisieux convent in Pala recovered a bloodstained shovel concealed under the staircase of the convent on Sunday.
The probe team has sent the shovel for forensic examination. Police now suspects that the assailant might have bludgeoned the 69-year-old sister using the thick handle of the shovel. Sister Amala was found murdered at her room in the convent on Thursday morning.
The police team suspects that a person quite familiar with the convent and its surroundings might have committed the crime. South Zone ADGP K. Padmakumar, who visited the convent on Saturday, told reporters that the team had found some definite clues about the assailant and a breakthrough would be made soon.
