Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Sunday welcomed the SNDP’s announcement that it was not joining hands with the BJP and its stand that it would not form a political party.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr Balakrishnan said he was not sure whether SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan would stick to this stand or not.
Responding to the Munnar issue, Mr Balakrishnan said the state committee had evaluated that the party had failed to intervene effectively in the agitation by plantation workers.
Mr Balakrishnan also said the UDF government was targeting officials who had taken a stand against corruption. That was the reason for the removal of Fire and Rescue Services director DGP Jacob Thomas from the post.
The chief minister should make clear which anti-people decision of Mr Thomas had forced the government to shift him out.
The government should also conduct an an inquiry into the corruption allegations against cooperation minister C. N. Balakrishnan.
The chief minister was protecting Consumerfed chairman Joy Thomas who had been facing corruption charges, he added.
