Mohammad Hafeez retrieves money he lost to con artist

The Pak cricketer has been refunded 22.5 million rupees he spent on fake property deal

Karachi: Pakistan's experienced all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has been refunded 22.5 million rupees which he had lost in a property deal to a con artist.

Hafeez was handed over five million rupees in cash and the rest of the amount through cheque by the Lahore police which investigated the case.

Hafeez had lodged a FIR with the defence police station in whose jurisdiction he resides against a property dealer who skimmed him out of the huge amount in a fake property deal.

Hafeez paid the amount to the property dealer for a plot but later it turned out the whole deal was a con by the dealer.

"The police were extremely cooperative and followed up on the investigations until they managed to not only recover the amount but also apprehend the dealer," a source close to Hafeez said.

If another source is to be believed Hafeez has already been asked by the tax authorities to explain the source of his income for 22.5 million rupees.

In the past the former Pakistan national T20 captain has faced issues with the tax authorities over filing of returns and disclosure of assets and income.
