Session in first week of October
Bengaluru: Mr Jayachandra said both Houses of legislature would meet for a week beginning the first week of October. The dates would be finalised at a meeting of the cabinet on September 21.
The minister said rules pertaining to the Land Acquisition Act, drawn up by the previous Congress-led UPA government, would be finalised on Monday following a lapse of the ordinance promulgated by the NDA government. This would help speed up all projects, including many irrigation projects, pending for one year.
It would also help the government commence work on Yettinahole project in order to provide drinking water to Kolar and Chikballapur districts.
On Kalasa-Banduri project, Mr Jayachandra said the government would consult advocates representing Karnataka in the tribunal on whether to file an application seeking an interim award.
It would not be appropriate to compare this with the dispute over sharing Cauvery water. Last week, water resources minister M.B. Patil held consultations with advocates of the state to discuss the future course of action.
