Not against Congress-JD(S) pact: DK Shivakumar
Says decision is the prerogative of Chief Minister, KPCC president
Bengaluru: Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Saturday said that he will never raise any objections to the alliance between the Congress and the Janata Dal (S) at the BBMP.
Mr Shivakumar is perceived to be one of the bitter critics of JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and his family.
After an interaction with the party workers at the KPCC office here, he said, “Neither of us (Mr Gowda and himself) are enemies per se, but we do have differences of opinion over choice of parties. Everyone thinks that I am a bitter rival of the family. But at the individual level, we both respect each other.”
He said that forging alliances is not his domain and it did not depend on an individual’s choice. “It is purely the prerogative of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar. I am a loyal soldier of the party and will accept any decision taken by the party," he said.
Mr Shivakumar hinted that Dr Parameshwar could be asked to continue as party state president for some more time, even if it is not for the full term.
